Mazda. Take your RX-8 body and cram the biggest engine you can in it. It'll be like printing money.

Something like this?

I submitted this a few days ago for NPoCP, we'll see if it shows up!

The most powerful Mazda engine is actually a Ford with about 270HP. It is only available in the CX-9 and Mazda 6, which is basically a rebadged Ford Edge.
I'm trying to find an engine they make themselves with over 200HP, but I don't think it exists.

The speed3 engine doesn't count?

See with the Toyobaru and the new Supra coming out, I figure Mazda needs to come out with two versions of an RX7 reboot. One will be smaller and more nimble, an FR-S/BRZ fighter harkening back to the FC chassis, and a bigger more beastly new Supra/Z4/M3 killer, that is a modern resurrection of the FD chassis.
DO THIS NOW, MAZDA!!!

...and go the way of the 370z? No, thanks.

As long as they keep it a radial, I'll be fine with that.
Photo of RX-8 with a big radial engine.

Well they just need to look at what Nissan did wrong, and do the opposite of that. haha

Didn't they discontinue it for 2014? I was looking at only this year's models, so I missed it. It would count, though.
![]() 08/14/2014 at 10:37 |

Well they discontinued the speed three this year, doesn't mean they couldn't cram the engine in another car though

They have a 3.6L 6 for the CX-9

I'm ok with them using a Ford engine.

No sorry that's not an option.

Exactly!

Yeah this is a good idea.

Boo! Doesn't have apex seals!
![]() 08/14/2014 at 10:45 |

Exactly. Then swap all the triangles on the car for pistons.

Me too, it's a damn good engine and keeps costs low. But I do miss the days when you could buy a Mazda that secretly had 350HP.
![]() 08/14/2014 at 10:47 |

More hp -> more better

But...but...but...
TRIANGLES TRIANGLES TRIANGLES triangles...
![]() 08/14/2014 at 10:55 |

It would be a better car for it. Look into your heart you know it to be true!

You mean bring back a RWD icon without a unique engine (to keep costs down), and style it to remind of past models, without looking retro? Yeah.....that doesn't work.
![]() 08/14/2014 at 11:12 |
|
Agreed. They'd have to do a new and amazing rotary engine... which they won't do. :(

they need to borrow the LS3 from GM
